行為面試題(behavioral questions)可以算得上求職者心中『最討厭的面試題型』的榜首。有時候這些題目看起來與職缺甚至沒什麼關係,反而是對求職者缺點、失敗經驗等等的靈魂拷問。
本文我們將面試題型分為:成功事蹟、失敗缺點以及個性特質三大類,並列舉一些常見的題目。

行為面試題(behavioral questions)雖然令人頭大,但內容幾乎都可以事前準備。準備得越充分,答題時就可以更從容。
常見的行為面試題以『Give me an example of a time…』 ;『 What is your typical way of…』;『 Describe a time when … (in the last year/recently )』等等形式出現。題型雖然不多,但是要求以個人特質、經驗作答,所以沒有標準答案可參考。對於英語非母語的我們來說,這種需要較多描述的回答更是要避免現場即興演出。對於常見的問題,一定要先想好對應的幾個故事(查好相關英語單字),安排好大致架構。
以下我們列舉三大類行為面試題:
成功事蹟類
一類行為問題是讓你描述各式各樣的事蹟,『成功』類與『失敗』類的事蹟有不同答題重點,所以我們分開討論。成功事蹟,常常有相當明確的指定情境,例如『短時間內做決定』、『說服別人做他本來不同意的事情』等等,所以很考驗事前的準備。
Describe a time/ give an example of:
- you anticipated potential problems and developed preventive measures
- you overcame a challenge
- you showed initiative and took the lead
- you had gone above and beyond
- solution for a problem that you were unfamiliar with.
- dealt with a [difficult, upset, challenging] person/customer/co-worker
- convinced someone to do …
- you motivated others
- you had a disagreement with someone and how did you resolve it?
失敗缺點類
行為問題常常涉及描述自己的失敗或缺點弱點。這種問題的目的,除了解求職者怎麼面對失敗之外,也會用來篩選掉太奇怪的人。
Describe a time/ give an example of:
- something you tried to accomplish and failed
- you missed an obvious solution to a problem.
- when you set your sights too high (or too low).
- when things didn’t go as you expected
- you got a constructive feedback
What is/are:
- 3 things you feel you could improve upon?
- your biggest weakness?
個性特質類
還有一類,直接問你是怎麼樣的人,或是偏於中性(不一定是成功或失敗)的問你麼處理XX的事情這種定義和描述問題。
Describe a time/ give an example of:
- a difficult decision you’ve made in the last year
- when you have to make an unpopular decision
- response to a situation where things didn’t go your way.
- when you take constructive feedback
- choose between two good options
- things didn’t go your way
What /How:
- dealing with conflict? Give me an example.
- What would your former colleague say about you?
除了這些問題以外,網路上可以找到很多範例。故事準備得夠多,才能減少即興演出的機會。這種表達為主的面試題,要注意不要只準備內容而忘記練習口語表達。在筆記中寫下重點而非逐字稿(否則容易變成死板的背書),練習時要開口講出來,並盡量請第三人幫忙 review ,才能找出表達盲點。
